Dermal Filler Treatments
Dermal Fillers must be administered by a qualified practitioner. It is a simple procedure, and does not usually require time off work. Lip enhancement

Lips are an important part of facial beauty. For many people, fuller and more sensuous lips come high on their wish list. These can be created using material naturally found in the body. A simple, safe, temporary dermal filler treatment can add volume and definition which can enhance small, thin lips. The procedure can also balance out asymmetric lips or reduce the appearance of fine, vertical lines.

What part of the lip can be enhanced?
Lip enhancement can be performed at many different areas of the lips:

  • Vermilion border or lip outline – for creating definition, width and improve lipstick bleeding lines
  • Lip augmentation targeting the fleshy part of the upper and lower lip – for volume, pout and fullness
  • Cupids bow definition – adds definition and contouring

Prior to the treatment: Topical anaesthetic will be applied for 15-30 minutes prior to the treatment to make the area numb.

The procedure: Dermal filler is injected at precise locations into your lip and lip boarder. Our practitioner will then massage to smooth the product. During the procedure, you are fully awake. You will be given a mirror to hold to enable you to see the results of the treatment.

Post treatment: You should avoid touching or applying make up on the treated area for 6 hours in order to prevent infection. Specific post treatment instructions will be given to you on the day of your treatment.

The results are immediate and last from 6-12 months. As the results are relatively temporary, adjustments can be made as your face changes over time and you will always retain a natural look.

Marionette lines

Marionette lines are vertical lines that extend from the outer corners of the mouth down to the jawline on either side of the chin. They are caused by:

  • Repeated facial expressions
  • Reduced production of collagen and elastin
  • Age-related fat reduction in the face

At Temple Beauty, we can restore lost facial volume, improve skin health and youthfulness, and reduce the appearance of marionette lines.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty

Non Surgical Rhinoplasty: Before & After
Tear trough correction

During the ageing process the skin under our eyes becomes lax and fat from the cheeks descends into the middle of the face leaving semi-circular depressions. This often creates a tired look. This hollow area that runs from the inner eye margin to the upper cheek is referred to as a tear trough hollow. These depressions make the eyes look ‘sunken’ and cast unflattering shadows under the eyes often known as ‘dark circles’ that can give an impression of a weary, aged appearance.

Soft tear trough fillers can be injected to bring these tear trough depressions back from the depths. By lifting these hollow areas, it can take away the tired look and lighten the dark circles caused by the shadowing effect. The treatment is subtle but extremely effective.

This is a non-surgical eye-lift treatment that can rejuvenate your look with minimal downtime.

The treatment procedure involves the careful introduction of a filler into the tear trough. That is then gently massaged into the target area to blend into the cheekbone and re-create the smooth, firm foundation for your under-eye.

Our consultant ENT surgeon conducts this treatment following a full consultation with you, in order to understand your desires and expectations.

Cheek enhancement
One of the first areas of our face to suffer from the ageing process is our cheeks. We lose that plumpness, which leaves us feeling and looking older than we should. The perfect treatment to re-introduce this volume and sculpt your cheekbones is hyaluronic acid cheek fillers.

Why do we lose facial volume as we age? As you age you lose a considerable amount of facial subcutaneous fat which can result in a loss of volume and elasticity. This in turn highlights hollow cheekbones which can cause someone to appear gaunt and tired-looking.

What to expect from your treatment? First things first, you will discuss with one of our expert practitioners the desired look you want to achieve from cheek augmentation using dermal fillers.

The dermal filler injections will be injected across both sides of the face while focusing on target areas.

The treatment will last about 30-45 minutes. You may experience slight swelling and redness afterwards but this will go down within a couple of days.

Are cheek fillers painful? As with all treatments it is expected that you will experience some slight discomfort throughout the procedure. A numbing cream will be applied to help reduce any pain. This will also help with pain after the treatment.

Which products do you use for cheek fillers? We use Juverderm products for our cheek filler treatments. This is a highly recognised brand producing fantastic results.

Are cheek fillers permanent? Dermal fillers are not permanent lasting approximately 12-18 months. The areas treated can then be “topped up” after this with further treatments.

Nasolabial folds

Nasolabial fold correction
A nasolabial fold that is too deep can give your face a tired expression. You can probably already hear the questions from people around you. Wouldn’t you like to have your carefree expression back? That’s possible with a nasolabial fold correction.

What causes a nasolabial fold to appear?
A nasolabial fold is the line that runs from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. A nasolabial fold is caused by the subcutaneous fat tissue sagging down from the cheekbone. This results in additional volume in the cheek which starts to hang over the nasolabial fold, which causes it to become deeper.

Nasolabial fold treatment
Just as no faces are the same, also no treatments are the same. Based on the analysis of your ageing characteristics made by the doctor, the amount of fillers and the treatment are determined for your face. By injecting measured amounts of fillers into the crucial places on your face, your face regains substance. The injections are actually very small pin-pricks performed by the doctor. This way, the hyaluronic acid filler is injected just under the skin, which immediately restores and rejuvenates your skin. It also causes your contours and volume to return.

Hand rejuvenation

Do your hands give away your age? While the face is most often the focus of cosmetic treatments, ageing skin on the back of your hands can also be improved.

What causes hands to age?
The main ‘giveaways’ of your age include lines and wrinkles on your face and neck, age spots and wrinkles on your décolletage and spots and thin skin on the backs of your hands. During the ageing process, your skin loses volume and elasticity and becomes thinner due to collagen loss. As a result the underlying veins, bones and tendons in the back of your hands become noticeable. When combined with sun exposure and UV damage, even the most cared for hands can appear old and frail.

Rejuvenating hands using dermal filler treatment is increasing in popularity as more people realise that hand cream alone will not combat the ageing process. Ideal candidates for this type of non-surgical cosmetic treatment include people who are concerned about:

  • Fine lines, wrinkles and age spots on their hands, and
  • A loss of volume and plumpness, resulting in a bony, aged look.

How does filler treatment restore and rejuvenated hands?
The dermal filler treatment that Dr Adrian Carstea and his colleague Orhan Eskici prefer to use for hand rejuvenation is Radiesse. This dermal filler treatment adds volume and improves the texture of the hands with the added benefit of being “a collagen stimulator which stimulates the production of new collagen (a process called neocollagenesis)”.

This type of dermal filler is composed of a temporary filler (carboxymethylcellulose) that improves the look of the hands and an active ingredient called calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa) that works to stimulate the collagen (a process that can take up to 3 months). Local anaesthetic is mixed into the dermal filler to reduce the likelihood of any discomfort during the treatment.

This non-invasive treatment has no downtime and in many clients lasts for up to 18 – 24 months.

FAQ's Dermal fillers

What does a Dermal Filler procedure involve?
Our Aesthetic practitioner or consultant ENT Surgeon will have an initial complimentary consultation with you. Once you have understood the treatment plan, the procedure itself will be carried out within the clinic.

A dermal filler is a substance which is injected into the skin to plump it up, make it firmer and smooth out lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are injected, with local anaesthetic, into lines and wrinkles to plump them out. The dermal filler then remains in the skin, where it binds water to produce a lift and give firmness to the treated area. A dermal filler treatment usually take around 45 minutes. For lip enhancement, a local anaesthetic cream is applied to reduce any discomfort.

Who is a Dermal Filler suitable for?
Cosmetic Dermal Fillers work to erase not only fine lines, but also deeper wrinkles and folds of the face and forehead. In addition, they also create plumper, smoother and more youthful looking lips in just minutes. For a fuller list of what Dermal Fillers are used for, please see below:

  • Unevenness in the skin after surgery or skin grafting
  • Deep ‘smile lines’ which run from the side of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • ‘Crows feet’ at the corner of the eyes
  • ‘Frown lines’ between the eyebrows
  • Smokers lines’ which are vertical lines on the top lip
  • Marionette lines’ at the corner of the mouth
  • The definition of the lip border
  • Other facial lines

In some people wanting treatment of deep facial lines, Wrinkle Relaxation may be required.

How long with the Dermal Fillers last?
Typically, the results of dermal fillers can last six to twelve months but this varies from one person to another. The filler is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, so the lines, wrinkles or lips will ultimately return to their previous appearance without top up treatments.
