Boxtox aftercare

A big part of the appeal of BOTOX is the fact that it doesn’t require any downtime or major activity restrictions. With only a few limitations, BOTOX patients can get back to their usual activities immediately after their appointments.

Limitations are quite mild and include avoiding bending over or manipulating the treatment area for the remainder of the day in order to allow the product to settle evenly. You may also wish to skip your daily workout for the same reason, and avoid consuming any blood-thinning products, such as aspirin or alcohol, for a couple of days before and after the procedure.

BOTOX injections take about 15 minutes to administer and don’t require any downtime. If your job doesn’t involve physically strenuous activities, you can return to work immediately. You should take it easy in the first 2 or 3 hours after getting the injections and avoid rubbing the treatment area.

Dermal fillers aftercare

You’ll be pleased with your dermal filler treatment, so the likelihood is you’ll want it to last. Dermal fillers aftercare advice usually recommends avoiding alcohol after your treatment, especially if you’re experiencing swelling. This is fairly common and will subside quickly.

It’s also wise, as part of your cosmetic fillers aftercare, to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive exposure to the sun following your treatment. Some dermal filler aftercare instructions advise avoiding the use of makeup straight after treatment, as it’s preferred to allow your skin to ‘breathe’, but you can ask your practitioner about this if you want to be able to use makeup straight away.

Finally, after your dermal fillers have been injected, it’s wise to avoid rubbing or touching the areas of injection, especially if you’re experiencing a bit of swelling. Bruising is pretty uncommon but it can occur. If you do have a touch of bruising, this can be easily covered by concealer.

There are certain high-grade skin care products which can help prolong the effects of your dermal fillers; you can ask your practitioner for some recommendations.

Dermal lip filler aftercare

If you have had lip filler, you should follow all the dermal fillers aftercare advice above but also, you should avoid wearing lipstick or lip balm for 24 hours following your treatment. With lip fillers, it’s common to experience tenderness and unevenness so it’s important that you follow your practitioner’s dermal lip filler aftercare instructions to ensure this improves quickly. If you experience any swelling, you can ask your practitioner for mini ice packs designed specifically for minimising swelling around the mouth.

Laser post-treatment aftercare

Immediately after treatment, there will be redness & swelling of the follicles which may last up to 2 hours or longer. The redness may last up to 2-3 days. The treated area will feel like a sunburn for a few hours after treatment. Keep the area treated clean and dry.

A topical soothing skin care product such as Aloe Vera gel may be applied following treatment. If the area still feels hot you can apply a cold flannel or cool pack at home. Do NOT allow ice packs or ice into direct contact with the skin.

Make-up can be used after the treatment as long as the skin is not irritated. We recommend you use Mineral Make-up as other makeup can contain many chemicals which do not allow your skin to breath.

Avoid picking or scratching the treated area.

Do NOT depilate between LASER treatments with waxing, plucking, threading or creams that will disturb the hair follicle. Shaving is the preferred method.

Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin). Use a sunblock minimum SPF 30 at all times throughout the course of treatment.

Anywhere from 10-21 days after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur & this appears as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. You can clean & remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or Loofa sponge.

After the underarms are treated, you may wish to use a powder instead of a deodorant for 24 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation.

There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as if you had a sunburn, for the first 24 hours. Avoid very hot bath or shower.

Avoid steam baths & saunas for 1 week.
Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water for 1 week.
Avoid exfoliating & microdermabrasion for 10 days after the treatment.
Peels or other invasive cosmetic treatments should be done under advice of the therapist.
If you experience an extreme reaction call the Clinic immediately.

Hair extensions aftercare

Treat your extensions exactly as you would your own hair and they should not suffer during daily wear.

Your new hair will look as fabulous wet as it does dry, and the extension joins will not show in water. You can shower, swim and go out in the wind and rain without having to worry. Your extensions are so well connected to your own hair, no-one will know the difference.

You can blow dry it however you like with no risk of ruining it. Another advantage of the real hair extensions is that you can use straightening irons and curling tongs on the hair, which is a definite ‘no no’ with fake hair.

Most shampoos and conditioners are fine to use, however, those that contain proteins should be avoided and you should avoid extension shampoos.
